With NFL free agency at a near standstill, we will be evaluating the current state of each Indianapolis Colts' position group, specifically, where things stand and whether or not more moves need to be made.

GM Chris Ballard has now made 10 outside free agent signings over the last week-plus, along with re-signing a number of the Colts' own free agents.

However, there is still work to be done, as the Colts still have several roster holes to address. The good news is that the Colts have a good amount of salary cap space to work with.

In the draft, the Colts are without a first-round pick and have a modest seven selections in total.

Up next in our review are the tight ends. If you missed our other positional reviews, you can find them below.

What is the need at tight end for the Colts after free agency?

The tight end position is led by Tyler Warren, but the Shane Steichen offense uses its fair share of two-tight-end sets. Warren brings a well-rounded skill set to the position, and those abilities can be maximized when paired with a stout blocking presence.

So re-signing Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogltree, both of whom bring a blocking-first presence to the position, was important.

An addition at tight end doesn't have to be made in the NFL draft, but doing so wouldn't be a bad idea either. That player could compete with Will Mallory -- who has struggled to earn playing time in his career -- for that final roster spot. Also, looking ahead to 2027, Alie-Cox and Ogletree are free agents once again, recreating a need at this position.
