The Colts placed starting defensive tackle DeForest Buckner on season-ending IR Saturday with a neck injury, as head coach Shane Steichen said Friday afternoon. Steichen told reporters Friday that Buckner would undergo surgery next week for the herniated disk and compressed nerve he suffered in the team's Week 9 road loss to the Steelers. The team expects the 31-year-old to return in 2026 for the final year of his current two-year extension, Steichen said.
Joining Buckner on IR, the Colts announced Saturday, are wide receiver and return specialist Anthony Gould, who suffered a foot injury in Week 14 in a road loss to the Jaguars, and backup tight end Drew Ogletree, who suffered a neck injury in Monday night's home loss to the 49ers.
With the available roster spots, the Colts announced Saturday that they had activated wide receiver Ashton Dulin off IR after the special teams star managed a pair of full practices this week. Dulin suffered a hamstring injury late in the Colts' Week 12 road loss to the Chiefs. The Colts also signed defensive tackle Chris Wormley to the 53-man roster from the practice squad Saturday and elevated center Jimmy Morrissey and offensive guard Josh Sills to the active roster from the practice squad, giving an ailing Colts offensive line that will be without center Tanor Bortolini (concussion) and offensive tackle Braden Smith (IR; concussion) some much-needed depth.
Dulin, starting offensive tackle Bernhard Raimann and star cornerback Sauce Gardner all had their questionable tags lifted ahead of Sunday's game, the Colts announced. Raimann missed Monday night's game against the 49ers with an elbow injury he suffered midway through the Colts' Week 15 road loss to the Seahawks after managing a limited practice at the end of last week. The starting offensive lineman was limited in Wednesday's practice but managed a full practice Friday.
Gardner has missed all but two plays of the team's last four games after suffering a calf injury early in the Colts' Week 13 home loss to the Texans. He returned to be a full participant in practice Friday.
On Friday while ruling out Bortolini, Buckner, Gould and Ogletree from the team's Week 17 home game, Steichen also said that rotational defensive end JT Tuimoloau (oblique) wouldn't play against Jacksonville. On Saturday, the Colts also downgraded offensive guard Dalton Tucker (shoulder) to out.
