With the 2025 NFL draft almost here, let's take one last look at who the draft analysts have the Indianapolis Colts selecting in the latest mock drafts.
Tight end is a position that has been mocked over and over to the Colts throughout this pre-draft process, and it's easy to see why, given the major hole they have on the roster at that position, specifically when it comes to the passing game.
The Colts taking Tyler Warren or Colston Loveland is, of course, very much in play. But what hasn't garnered much attention is the offensive line. Who is going to start at right guard?
Maybe Matt Goncalves can make that position change, but to assume that's going to be a seamless transition comes with clear risks. At the bare minimum, if GM Chris Ballard wants to go that route and move Goncalves inside, there needs to be competition for those starting snaps.
In what is not an overly deep offensive line class, addressing the need sooner rather than later would be the prudent move.
All eyes will be on the quarterback competition between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones, but I'm not sure it matters who the winner is if Ballard doesn't get the offensive line unit right.
So if the Colts go tight end in Round 1, I get it. But they'd better have a clear vision for the offensive line if that's the case.
