On Monday, the Indianapolis Colts announced that they waived-injured cornerback Cameron Mitchell and signed fellow corner Mekhi Rodgers in a corresponding roster move.
Mitchell was injured during last Friday’s training camp practice and seemingly suffered a shoulder injury while being tended to by members of the Colts medical training staff.
If unclaimed, he will revert to the Colts injured reserve.
Mitchell appeared in 8 games (1 start) for the Colts last season, recording 18 tackles (14 solo), 2 tackles for loss, and 4 passes defensed. He was fighting for a cornerback spot lower on Indianapolis’ positional depth chart.
Meanwhile, Rodgers is a 6,’1”, 197 pound cornerback who recently participated in the Colts 2026 rookie minicamp on a tryout basis and worked out for the club on Monday. He played in 13 games (1 start) for James Madison last year, making 8 tackles and 1 pass defensed.
Along with Rodgers on Monday, the Colts also reportedly worked out former Wisconsin cornerback Ricardo Hallman, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jakobie Keeney-James, and Philadelphia Eagles/Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Zech McPhearson.
