Chad Reuter of NFL.com put together a seven-round mock draft that features only current NFL players. So, who did the Indianapolis Colts come away with?
And as Reuter went through and put this mock together, he had one goal in mind for each team -- win now.
The draft order was based on where each team selected this past April, and then each following round was snaked. So the Colts were first on the clock at 16th overall.
Will Anderson has become one of the most disruptive pass rushers in football, which includes eclipsing the 100-pressure mark last season.
What Reuter said: "Anderson has become one of the top defenders in the league, a true building block to construct a roster around."
The Colts land a familiar face at quarterback. As you can guess, in this mock, quarterbacks went off the board quickly in Round 1. The Colts are banking on Jones, and therefore the offense, being able to replicate last season's first-half success.
What Reuter said: "The Colts were on an upward trajectory last season before Jones suffered a torn Achilles. He's aiming to be ready by Week 1 of this season."
Despite inconsistent quarterback play for much of his career, London has remained productive over his four seasons with the Falcons. This includes totaling almost 1,300 yards in 2024.
What Reuter said: "Boasting the ability to box out slot defenders and get the better of outside corners, London is a worthy pick at No. 78 overall."
Another current Colt ends up with Indianapolis. A calf injury limited Gardner to only four games in a Colts uniform, but he was able to showcase the impact that he can have. In those games, Gardner allowed a completion rate of 54%, giving up just 7.3 yards per catch, with three pass breakups. His presence allows Lou Anarumo to call much more aggressive games.
What Reuter said: "Like with the selection of Daniel Jones in Round 2, the Colts take another player whom they acquired in real life last year."
With Quenton Nelson long gone, the Colts turn to Tyler Smith at guard in this mock. Smith allowed three sacks and 26 pressures last season but was among PFF's highest-graded guards in the run game.
What Reuter said: "Smith's cut down on his penalties over the past two seasons, trusting his strength, agility and footwork to create space for ball-carriers."
Styles was the seventh overall pick in this past April's draft by Washington. He can cover a lot of ground in the middle of the field and get after the quarterback when needed.
What Reuter said: "The Colts plug Styles into the middle of their defense, as the rookie and NFL legacy naturally knows how to stop run plays and chase down ball-carriers on the edge."
As a rookie, Henderson rushed for 987 yards and nine scores. He also caught 40 of his 47 targets in the passing game.
What Reuter said: "Henderson is on his way to becoming one of the NFL's top rushing/receiving backs after he contributed 1,132 yards from scrimmage as a rookie for New England."
