In the midst of some uncertainty over the last week, the Indianapolis Colts have re-signed wide receiver Alec Pierce.
According to Adam Schefter, Pierce is returning to the Colts on a four-year, $116 million deal.
When it came to retaining Pierce, the Colts faced a lot of competition. Pierce was not only one of the top wide receivers in free agency, but he was also one of the most coveted players in general.
Some of the interested teams included Las Vegas, Tennessee, and New England.
Pierce is coming off his first 1,000-yard season and has led the NFL in yards per catch in back-to-back seasons. However, he's developed into much more than just a vertical threat, impacting other levels of the field regularly as well.
An important factor in his decision to re-sign with the Colts was stability at the quarterback position. The Colts having Daniel Jones and working through a long-term deal with him helped accomplish that.
Letting Pierce hit the open market came with some risk, but the Colts were able to work out a deal and retain one of their most valued players.
