Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo continues to be in high demand during one of the most frenzied league-wide head coaching searches in recent memory.

The Indianapolis coordinator was requested for his third head coach interview this cycle on Wednesday according to multiple reports, this time by the Buffalo Bills, who on Monday fired longtime head coach Sean McDermott following Buffalo's Divisional round road overtime loss to the top-seeded Broncos 33-30.

Anarumo previously interviewed during this cycle with the New York Giants -- where he'd interviewed previously in his career in 2022 for head coach -- in a job that ultimately went over the weekend to ex-longtime Ravens head coach John Harbaugh. The Colts defensive coordinator also interviewed with the Tennessee Titans, who on Monday hired 49ers defensive coordinator and one-time Jets head coach Robert Saleh to be their next head coach.

Anarumo also interviewed in 2023 with the Cardinals for their then-vacant head coaching position that ultimately went to Jonathan Gannon, who the team fired shortly following the end of this season.

The Bills, who held onto and promoted front office executive Brandon Beane to run the team's head coaching search in the coming weeks, struggled on defense this year and have struggled in recent years to get over the hump against the AFC's best. In the team's six-straight postseasons in which they've won a game, the Bills have been eliminated by the Chiefs four times, along with one loss each to the Bengals and the Broncos. Buffalo gave up an average of 33.2 points per game in those half-dozen season-ending losses.

Anarumo continues to be well-known around the league for the way in which he has stymied Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Andy Reid-led Kansas City offense at-large in recent years -- particularly during Anarumo's time as a defensive coordinator for the Bengals from 2019-2024. His Colts defense gave up just 23 points to the Chiefs this fall in an overtime loss and surrendered just nine points through three quarters.

Along with Anarumo, the Bills also plan to interview former Giants head coach Brian Daboll, current Buffalo offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski and Commanders run game coordinator Anthony Lynn -- likely along with coordinators or assistants of teams currently slated to play in this weekend's conference championship games, coaches whom the Bills wouldn't be allowed to interview until after those games are played.
