Utah Tech has suspended Chance Trujillo after he punched an opponent during a game.
The university confirmed to PEOPLE on Dec. 8 that the sophomore basketball player has received a one-game suspension after video footage of the sophomore throwing a punch at Santa Clara Broncos forward Allen Graves on Dec. 3 went viral.
"Per NCAA rules, any player who throws a punch or is involved in a fight receives an automatic ejection and a one-game suspension," the university said in a statement to PEOPLE.
"Chance Trujillo will serve that one-game suspension this Saturday night, Dec. 13, when Utah Tech plays host to Justice University," the school said.

Trujillo will return to play on Dec. 20 in Utah Tech's game against Weber State.
The Utah Tech player lashed out against Graves after the Broncos player dunked on him during their game on Dec. 3. Graves made the dunk and put Santa Clara ahead 86-77 with 1:18 remaining.
In footage of the viral moment, the redshirt sophomore sucker-punched Graves on the side of his head. Graves attempted to go back at Trujillo, but team coaches intervened and pulled the players apart.
Referees handed technical fouls to both Trujillo and Graves, as well as the Broncos' Brenton Knapper.
The Broncos ultimately pulled out the 90-80 win over Utah Tech.
Fans considered what led to Trujillo punching Graves after the video went viral. "No matter what, you can’t throw a punch," wrote one fan, suggesting Trujillo "should be ejected from the game and disciplined for other pending games."
"Join the boxing team if you wanna punch," wrote another viewer.
This season, Trujillo is averaging 11.7 points and 2.4 assists for Utah Tech.
