The hype around quarterback prospect Jaxson Dart is strong heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, and the Los Angeles Rams have been connected to the Ole Miss passer with their No. 26 pick.

The Rams don't need a quarterback, but many have speculated that L.A. should and will look at finding Matthew Stafford's eventual replacement as early as this year. General manager Les Snead also seems to be open to the idea.

But one analyst isn't buying Dart as a good NFL prospect. FS1's Colin Cowherd thinks Dart will end up like Zach Wilson, who went No. 2 overall to the New York Jets in 2021. Wilson lasted three miserable seasons in New York before being traded to the Denver Broncos. Now, Wilson is on the Miami Dolphins.

"This feels like Zach Wilson," Cowherd said, "where [Dart] is going to blow you away with his confidence, he's got a little bit of an arm, but he's inaccurate in big games. I don't see it, but he'll get drafted in the first round. Enough GMs like him."

For comparison's sake, Wilson completed 73.5% of his passes for 3,692 yards, 33 touchdowns and three interceptions in his final season at BYU. Dart, meanwhile, completed 69.3% of his passes for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns and six interceptions this past season at Ole Miss. Make of that as you will.

Part of the issue with the allure around Dart is that there is only one quarterback who most experts believe is a first-round talent: Cam Ward. And he'll go to the Tennessee Titans at No. 1 overall. Next there's Dart, Shedeur Sanders and even Jalen Milroe — all of whom could go in the first round if teams are desperate to add a young quarterback.

The Rams aren't desperate, though. Stafford is still elite and will play in 2025. The problem is the Rams aren't sure how long Stafford will stick around, hence the rumors about their interest in other prospects.

The difference between Wilson and Dart, too, is that Dart won't start immediately in Los Angeles like Wilson did in New York. Dart will also get at least one season to sit behind Stafford and he'll learn from one of the best offensive minds in the league — Sean McVay.

Situation is half the battle with rookie quarterbacks. While Dart may look like Wilson as a prospect, he could turn into a better quarterback in the right system. Which could be L.A.
