With the 2025 NFL Draft just a few hours away, the culmination of months of team evaluations is at hand. All 32 franchises are set to enhance their rosters, each aiming for that vital competitive edge for the 2025 season. Furthermore, we will witness the excitement of potential draft day trades and which teams could aggressively pursue the top talent that this class holds early on.
In a pre-draft prediction, Fox Sports' Colin Cowherd has the Los Angeles Rams shaking things up in his final 2025 NFL mock draft. Cowherd projects the Rams to trade up from the 26th overall pick to No. 13 to select Michigan tight end Colston Loveland, a move aimed at boosting their offensive firepower for the twilight years of quarterback Matthew Stafford’s career.
Loveland, a 6-foot-6, 248-pound playmaker, comes off a junior season at Michigan where he recorded 56 catches for 582 yards and five touchdowns. His efforts earned him second-team All-American and second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2024. Over his three-year career, Loveland totaled 117 receptions for 1,466 yards and 11 touchdowns across 39 games. A key figure in Michigan’s perfect 15–0 national championship season in 2023, Loveland led the Wolverines in receiving during the title game with three catches for 64 yards.
Tight end is an area of need for the Rams. Veteran Tyler Higbee, 32, is entering a contract year and played in just three games last season after a torn ACL and MCL suffered in the 2023 Wild Card round sidelined him for most of 2024. The Rams also feature Colby Parkinson, signed last offseason to a three-year deal, and 2023 fifth-round pick Davis Allen, who has appeared in 30 games over his first two seasons.
Cowherd’s projection highlights the Rams' urgency to surround Stafford with top-tier talent as they aim for one last run at contention. Loveland could provide a dynamic red-zone threat and bolster a receiving corps already headlined by Davante Adams and Puka Nacua.

Cowherd's thoughts: "The Rams tried to move up last year for Brock Bowers, but it was too rich. They're just not getting enough tight end production. The feeling with Rams is, they've got Davante Adams, Puka Nacua, Kyren Williams and the O-line is settled. So, let's go get a star tight end for Matthew Stafford this year and next, his last couple of years with the Rams."

Colston Loveland
Elite analytically and arguably the TE1 overall of 2025 class.
He is 5th overall prospect in my model with a 87.2 grade. Currently consensus 1st round pick (20th overall). pic.twitter.com/2wLSfugdjI
