BUFFALO, NY – Michigan State basketball is heading to the nation's capital for the Sweet 16.
The 3-seed Spartans beat the 6-seed Louisville Cardinals at KeyBank Center in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, 77-69, on Saturday, March 21.
The Spartans survived a sloppy first half with nine turnovers and some missed defensive coverages and then got off to an electric start in the second half thanks to the hero of the day, Coen Carr.

The high-flying junior forced a timeout less than two minutes into the second half when he punished the rim with a fastbreak dunk that gave MSU a nine-point lead and dominated the game with his energy, finishing with 21 points and 10 rebounds on 8-for-13 shooting.
Jeremy Fears Jr. didn't shoot great, finishing with 12 points on 3-for-13 shooting, but set the Spartans up with good looks all day and finished with 16 assists in the game, breaking Denzel Valentine's record for most assists in a NCAA Tournament game by an MSU player. He had 11 assists in the first game.
Next up, the Spartans will play either 7-seed UCLA or 2-seed UConn on Friday, March 27, in the East Regional semifinal in Washington.
