Coco Gauff shares she was in car accident on way to French Open first round match

Defending French Open champion Coco Gauff defeated her American compatriot Taylor Townsend in straight sets in first round action on Tuesday at Roland Garros.

Gauff did not have an easy breezy day at the office; however, as she revealed to TNT Sports later on.

What happened to Gauff​


Gauff’s good friend and TNT Sports media personality Chris Eubanks knew she was involved in a car accident and asked her to discuss it on air.

She described it as a collision with a pole that was supposed to be retractable that stayed put.

The impact was enough for her to spill her juice and for the car not to be driveable after the incident.

Gauff was not the driver.

Thankfully, everyone was okay as evidenced by the decisive win and the laughs after the fact about the incident.

In 2025, she walked on the tennis court for her first round match with her bag and no racquets. She went on to win the tournament.
