Cleveland Guardians games have evolved into must-see TV in Northeast Ohio, according to several reports, as local television ratings have risen significantly in the current season.
According to a report from Crain’s Cleveland Business, Guardians viewership is up 33% from this point last year.
Other than the Chicago White Sox, the Guardians numbers have increased more than any other team in Major League Baseball.
The oddity: the increase comes after the collapse of the regional sports network model – Bally Sports – in the past few years and with the league assuming production responsibilities for 14 of its teams, including the Guardians.
Those telecasts eventually found homes on every major cable and satellite distributors locally and are also available via a streaming option. For the Guardians that is CLEGuardians.TV.
On a whole, according to Sports Business Journal, streaming options have exceeded expectations league wide. In that regard, unique viewership increased 24% and total number of minutes watched is up 43% which exceeds streaming on major partners such as ESPN, Fox One and HBO Max.
