RJ Godfrey and the Clemson Tigers began the week tied for first in the ACC with Duke, a rare sight over the years of ACC play.
Godfrey (Clemson’s leading scorer at 11.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg) and the Tigers visit the Blue Devils in Cameron Indoor Stadium Saturday at noon with the top spot on the line.
No Clemson team has won at Duke since January 4, 1995. A Clemson victory Saturday would move them into sole possession of second place with 15 consecutive ACC road wins. The only run that was longer was produced by Duke from 1998 to 2001 when those teams won 24 straight.
But they first look to take care of business Wednesday against Virginia Tech as they try for a 12th home win in 13 games in Littlejohn Coliseum.
Godfrey visited with Todd Summers Tuesday on this team’s journey to the top of the conference, a recent long journey out west, and a special season to this point.
