The Clemson Tigers are coming off of their worst season in a decade-and-a-half, as they went just 7-6 and lost to Penn State in the Pinstripe Bowl last year.
That marked their least successful campaign since 2010, when they went 6-7 during Dabo Swinney's second full season as head coach.
Due to Clemson's meteoric fall over the last several seasons, many have completely lost faith in Swinney and the program, this even though the Tigers placed nine players in the NFL Draft this past spring.
Clemson will open up the 2026 campaign against LSU for the second straight year, with this meeting coming in Baton Rouge. But while the LSU matchup will be one of the toughest games on Clemson's schedule, the Crain and Cone podcast (of the On 3 Network) is focused on Week 2 against Georgia Southern.
Why? Because David Cone (no, not the former MLB pitcher, but the former Michigan quarterback) has predicted the Tigers to lose to the Sun Belt school on Sept. 12 while listing off his top five upset picks for the 2026 season.

His other picks? Oklahoma State over Oregon, Virginia Tech over Miami, USC over Ohio State and SMU over Notre Dame.
None of those predictions are nearly as bad as Clemson's, and it just highlights how far the Tigers have fallen in the eyes of many.
Clemson has never lost to a team in the Sun Belt, so if the Tigers do lose that game, they might as well start packing it up for the rest of the season ... and Swinney might have to start preparing for his pink slip.
That's especially considering that Clemson might already find itself in an 0-1 hole by the time it faces Georgia Southern, as the Week 1 LSU clash will be challenging.
Overall, Clemson's schedule isn't particularly daunting.
Yes, the Tigers will battle LSU in their season opener, and they will have to face Miami on Oct. 3. But the rest of their slate is infinitely manageable.
Clemson absolutely stands a chance of finishing with nine-plus wins this year. If it falls to Georgia Southern, however, all hell may break loose.
