Draft is over. UDFAs are getting calls left and right. Now comes the question

Is the Cards future clearer or murkier after the draft?

I say murkier. I think there are too many questions unanswered playerwise. We must proceed from here thinking this is our product. As much as Graves can yammer on about June 1, he cannot expect anything there because it may not materialize. He may contact Robinson again but Robinson may not return. What you now see could be exactly what you get....and you better approach it with that attitude because it is more likely this is our team than having alot of additional players coming aboard.

I am not trying to sound negative per se. I think most teams walked away from their draft with a clearer picture of their future but I don't think the Cards can say the same thing.

Realistically - About the same as last year.

Truly. We lost two WRs in free agency (some might say kicked them out the door, but that's for another thread), and so we drafted two more who might be able to contribute at some point in the indetirminate future.

We didn't help the pass rush at all, but we did get Fred Wakefield off the field, and that might help with our run-stopping (though the problems I saw were up the middle, rather than from the corner).

I guess we have more depth, if not better depth. That's something.

I think this squad will be about the same as last season, but the losses will probably be much uglier.

Still soft in the middle, no pass rush and no cover guys... I'd say we are lucky to tread water this year. I think two years down the road we have some solid WR, OL and running game, but still no defense.
