Darling of a deal

The Cardinals continued their signing binge Wednesday by getting Jets linebacker James Darling to accept a four-year deal for a little over $1 million a year. Darling had been talking to the Browns and Lions along with having conversations with the Jets about re-signing. In the end, Darling, who played his college ball at Washington State, decided that the West Coast was a better fit and he was willing to take a little less to go with the Cardinals. This was the fourth signing of the day for the Cardinals, who added quarterback Jeff Blake, free safety Dexter Jackson and fullback James Hodgins

I think that having a chance to compete for a starting job played a part in his decision.

The fact that he is from the West Coast and played in the Pac-10 also played a part in the decision, but I still was surprised by the money comment.

So is everyone going to start accepting the fact that money isn't ALWAYS the only reason these guys make the decisions they make?

Most players run for the money (Dexter Jackson) but some use other criteria to decide (Colvin and Darling).
