Former Christian Brothers star and Mississippi State baseball signee Will Brick was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays with the 131st overall pick in the fourth round of the 2026 MLB draft on July 11.
Brick was the 2026 Gatorade Tennessee Baseball Player of the Year and the Commercial-Appeal All-Metro Player of the Year following his senior season. He played catcher and third base, batting .526 with nine doubles, three triples, five home runs, 25 RBIs, 28 runs and a 1.572 on-base plus slugging percentage.
Brick was also chosen to the TSWA All-State team after leading CBHS to the Division II-AA state quarterfinals in the TSSAA playoffs.
Brick would have been a junior this season but reclassified so he'd be eligible for this year's draft. MLB.com ranks him as the No. 46 prospect in the draft and the top high school catcher.
Brick was one of two Memphis-area players, the other being Houston's Collin Bland, who participated in the MLB Draft Combine in Phoenix, Arizona from June 23-25. Brick also played for the United States national team at the under-18 World Cup in Japan in 2025, helping the team win the gold medal.
Christian Brothers has produced 11 Major Leaguers in its history, including Tim McCarver, who won two World Series titles with the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed a 21-season career as a catcher.
Brick is now one step closer to joining that group. He has until July 27 at 4 p.m. CT to decide whether to sign with the Jays and receive a hefty signing bonus (the slot value, or recommended signing bonus, for the 131st pick is $581,100), or join the Bulldogs for the 2027 season.
If Brick chooses to attend college, he won't be eligible for the draft again until 2029.
