While at the NFL league meetings, Indianapolis Colts' GM Chris Ballard provided the latest injury update on quarterback Daniel Jones.

Jones continues to work his way back from an Achilles injury he suffered during the second half of last season.

"He's in a great place," Ballard said of Jones. "Nobody's going to outwork him. You almost got to pull the reins back in on him a little bit, but so far so good. I mean, time heals any injury. So we we'll take it we day by day and continue to rehab. He's doing a lot. He's actually able to throw and do some things with his upper body, some upper body mechanics that we were working on last year that he was working on.

"So he's able to kind of get some things done that I think he didn't realize at the start that he's going to be able to do. So that's been good. But one thing you don't have to worry about is his work, his work ethic. Like he is going to work and he cares about not only the team's performance, but his performance and he understands him being healthy is going to be a big part of that."

Ballard wasn't going to provide a return timeline for Jones, but ESPN's Adam Schefter did a few weeks ago, stating that he is "expected to be ready for the start of the regular season." Another source told Schefter "absolutely" when asked if he expects Jones to be ready for training camp.

Through the first 10 games of last season, the Colts were 8-2, led by Jones, who was one of the most productive quarterbacks in the NFL. As a result, the Colts also boasted one of the most efficient and effective offenses in the game.

The belief internally is that the success Jones had through the first half of last season can be replicated.
