Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is reportedly cleared for action as training camp kicks off across the NFL.
The Richland grad and SMU product is "doing great" after undergoing a procedure in May to remove loose debris in his right knee that was causing inflammation, the same knee that needed an LCL repair after a September 2024 injury.
Kansas City head coach Andy Reid told reporters on Friday that the 26-year-old Rice is good to go for Chiefs camp.
It's been an eventful offseason for Rice, who's entering his fourth NFL season having played just 12 games over the past two years due to injury and a lengthy suspension. A week after his May surgery Rice was arrested and booked into a Dallas County jail after testing positive for THC and violating his probationary terms connected to a hit-and-run crash in Dallas in March 2024. He was released from jail in June after a 30-day sentence, clearing him to continue rehabbing his knee with the Chiefs.
Rice also faced accusations of assault and domestic violence in February after a former girlfriend posted images of bruises and wounds on social media, alleging they were caused by the Chiefs receiver. The NFL ruled in April that Rice wouldn't face discipline from the league for that incident.
Rice played eight games in 2025, hauling in 53 passes for 571 yards and five touchdowns. He's presumably the Chiefs' No. 1 WR when on the field and fully healthy — that just hasn't been the case for Rice since his standout rookie season in 2023.
