Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke with reporters after practice on Monday at Missouri Western State University. He shared his thoughts on the return of offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy to training camp after an extended absence.
"Good to have (Eric) EB (Bieniemy) back, so he's back in the fold, and I don't think he missed a step, man. He was out there getting after it," said Reid. "Listen, I've talked to him; I talk to him several times a day, so I knew he was coming back if everything worked out the way it had been. The primary thing is that Mia (Bieniemy) is stable and in good hands and that she's doing well. So that was the primary thing with it, and that's where we settled."
Bieniemy was back on the practice field after missing several days due to an off-the-field matter involving his family. He picked up where he left off in his motivation of the offense and holding players accountable, a welcome sight for Reid.
"Yeah, it was great to have (Bieniemy) him back out there. Everybody was glad to see him," said Reid. "I think once you start going, you're going. It's a bit like a game. Once you're in the game, you're in the game. But he always brings good energy."
The Chiefs begin the preseason on Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams at Arrowhead Stadium with an early indication that Bieniemy should be on the sidelines alongside Reid.
