Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones spoke with reporters after practice on Saturday at Missouri Western State University. He discussed new goals for the 2026 season after an unusually long offseason following the team's failure to make the playoffs.
"Well, my summer was long, probably one of the longest summers we've had since my tenure with the Chiefs," said Jones, "But just mostly taking care of my body, getting healthy and being ready to attack on coming back."
During the 2025 season, Jones tallied 29 total tackles, seven sacks, and 32 quarterback pressures. He was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing year, as he continues to disrupt opposing offensive game plans and force double teams.
"Same burn, man. New year, same goal, man. New year, same goals, same intensity, same fire. I'm just eager to get back out there, excited to be back with the team," said Jones. "Last year didn't end like we wanted it to end, but it was a lot of lessons that we learned along the way and that journey, and we put it behind us. We learned a lot from last year, and we're headed in excited about this new year with new opportunities."
Jones was named to his seventh consecutive Pro Bowl as one of the few standout presences for the team. The multiple-time first- or second-team All-Pro missed being named to either list for the first time since 2019.
