Kansas City Chiefs defensive back L'Jarius Sneed recently spoke with KTAL about his new role with the team after signing a one-year deal to return this offseason.
"Oh man, just be me, you know. Get my still on back, and you know, reclaiming who I am," said Sneed. "You know, not to prove anything, but you know, to show people I am who you know I was—just instilled into the younger guys. I think that's my role now. You know, show them guys away because I got two rings, and I think we can go back and get another one."
In his first tenure with the Chiefs, Sneed appeared in 57 regular-season games, tallying ten interceptions and 40 passes defended. In the postseason, he had one interception and seven passes defended in 13 games, primarily against the opposing team's top receiver.
The Chiefs revamped their secondary with the departures of Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson, and Bryan Cook. Rookies Mansoor Delane and Jadon Canady were added, with the potential to play immediate roles next to second-year cornerback Nohl Williams. Sneed's experience will be relied upon heavily in the upcoming season.
