Chiefs' OTAs gives exciting glimpse into Patrick Mahomes' recovery timeline originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
As the Kansas City Chiefs began OTAs on Monday, as we all expected, most eyes were firmly fixed on Patrick Mahomes to see if he would do any work.
Recovering from a torn ACL, Mahomes has been making good progress and has even been seen slowly mimicking football moves with a brace on his left knee.
Such has been his recovery that reports indicate he is ahead of schedule, which means a Week 1 start is still well within reach.
But did Mahomes do any work as OTAs began? You bet he did, as the Chiefs dropped a video on X showing Mahomes going through the motions.

Mahomes on track for Week 1?
It is very early in the offseason, but everything we've seen and heard suggests Patrick is on track.
Of course, as OTAs begin and then training camp, how Mahomes' knee responds to the grueling days of back-to-back practices will be key.
Kansas City won't push Mahomes, not at least at this early stage of the offseason. It is all about getting a good foundation of work behind him, and perhaps more importantly, getting confident in his knee again.
Mobility is such a big part of Patrick's game, so how he adjusts, at least early this offseason, will be a key watch.
But right now, all indications are positive for Mahomes being there against the Denver Broncos in Week 1.
