The Chicago White Sox are calling up two of their top pitching prospects in Hagen Smith and Tanner McDougal, a source confirmed to the Tribune late Friday.

Smith, the team’s 2024 first-round pick, has a 4.32 ERA in 20 outings (14 starts) for Triple-A Charlotte. The lefty is ranked the No. 2 prospect in the Sox system, according to MLB.com. Smith has been getting work as a reliever recently.

Smith, 22, has a 3.88 ERA in 43 career minor-league outings (37 starts) over three seasons in the Sox system.

McDougal, 23, also has been getting work out of the bullpen. The right-hander has spent a bulk of his 2026 season with the Knights, compiling a 2.86 ERA in 15 appearances (six starts). MLB.com ranks McDougal as the No. 4 prospect in the Sox system.

A fifth-round pick in 2021, McDougal has a 4.45 career ERA in 94 outings (81 starts) over five minor-league seasons in the Sox system.
