Chicago Sky coach Tyler Marsh unleashed on WNBA refs after her team’s loss to the Phoenix Mercury.

Sky star Kamilla Cardoso put on an impressive performance in Chicago’s five-point defeat to Phoenix on Monday, Aug. 3, delivering a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds with five assists, but Cardoso, 25, didn’t shoot a single free throw.

The Sky visited the line 25 times, while the Mercury shot 40 free throws on Monday. Cardoso had the ball a handful of times in the final minutes of the game, but was unable to get a bucket or a foul call, despite Marsh’s visible frustration on the sidelines.

While speaking to reporters after the loss, Marsh, 38, was asked specifically about the officiating on Cardoso and called it “a f---ing joke.”

“It was a joke. It was a f---ing joke. It’s a joke,” he said. “How many more games does she need to go without getting a free throw? It makes no sense. Zero sense. It didn’t come to that.”

The Sky coach continued, “We fought our asses off today. We could have been more disciplined, put them on the line 40 times.”

He added, “Not saying the officials made 40 wrong calls or 20 wrong calls or whatever it is. Not saying that at all.”

“But for her to play as hard as she does consistently, she doesn’t give much pushback to the officials, I try to talk as calmly as I can to officials before it gets out of hand, it’s a joke,” Marsh said.

Next, the Sky will host the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
