For what it's worth. Supposedly that came from a "source within the organization" which could be a bored secretary for all we know.

They still are making a lot of trade-down rumors, mostly involving teams that want to scoot up and grab Leftwich or hop in front of the Cardinals to get Suggs. I consider most of this trade-down talk to be pure speculation though. They're naming no source, I think it's just bored radio hosts filling time and stirring the pot.

Common sense (the way they like to employ hippopotamus-sized tackles like Traylor and Washington) is that they would go for Jimmy Kennedy but Robertson is clearly the superior athlete and worker so I can't say I'm surprised they would rate him higher.

I still think they're gonna take leftwich :)

Reading between the lines - One of the NYC writers mentioned that Chris Simms "doesn't get past Chicago at #35."

Why would he say that if Chicago was planning to draft Leftwich at #4?

Then again - there has been more conflicting draft garbage coming out of Bears Hq. this year than anywhere else in the NFL.

haha the "Chicago is going to take Leftwich" theory is just my own idea. I didn't read or hear it anywhere. I simply refuse to believe they are going to go another year without taking a QB for the future. They've been limping along on journeyman veterans for so long that the fans here are about to completely lose interest.

Figures, I semi decided yesterday that Robertson was the best guy for us and now the Bears will pick him !

Right now I'm looking at a very uneventful draft if I read things correctly.

I think Cincy takes Palmer, Detroit Rogers, Houston will take Andre Johnson or move down and take an OL. I think Chicago takes Robertson/Kennedy or possibly Leftwich and I think Dallas takes Newman or Robertson/Kennedy. So at 6 we will almost certainly take Suggs.

I think Robertson is the safest pick we need help there, he's a great player, and he's unlikely to be a complete bust. Suggs may have more overall impact if he pans out(because we need pass rush so badly) but he's got more risk at the moment with the questions about his speed and strength coming up.

I do not think the Cards will discount all the questions about Suggs speed and strength and think they were probably going to take him if he was there but since these terrible workouts will not pull the trigger on him now. I think he will drop down to 10 or less. If you take Suggs and he is a bust you would look like an idiot in the face of his workouts. Speed and strength do count. A number 6 pick should be able to do at least the average number of reps which is 25. Suggs only did 18. Explain this away. Gamble in the lower round but not with your number 6.

I heard they will be running a two QB set. So it makes total sense to me.

If Houston takes Gross (which I think they will) they will not take him here. They will trade down. Otherwise I think they'll take Johnson.

The trade rumor (wrongly attributed to Kent Somer) had Houston trading down with the Cardinals. The story apparently came from the TSN War Room, who reported that Houston had made similar offers to trade down with the Cards (for their #6 and #70) and the Vikes (for their #7 and #71).

The Vikes would presumably leapfrog everyone to grab Johnson (implying that Moss may be on the way out of Minne). They speculated that the Cards might also leap up to grab Johnson (although I could conceivably see them doing something like that to secure Suggs). The War Room continued by saying that Houston didn't want to trade down below #8, because Carolina was likely to grab Gross at #9.

Ergo - I think the Texans will trade down and still grab Gross. If they can't extort a 3rd round pick, they may have to settle for less. But if they can do the deal, they'd take Gross at #6 or #7 and not #3. Otherwise they'll stay with A Johnson.

COLOR]

No, they aren't trying to move Moss, they want to pair the two to try and have the double receiving threat they used to have with Moss and Carter.
