If you had to guess the two starting quarterbacks in the 2022 game between the Chicago Bears and New York Jets, could you name them?

If you guessed Trevor Siemian and Mike White, your memory is better than most.

The Bears lost that game 31-10 at MetLife Stadium, but it's a great reminder of how far the Bears have come from that three-win season that helped shaped the roster Chicago has today.

The 2026 matchup will feature two coaches who know each other well. Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn spent four seasons in Detroit. Glenn served as the defensive coordinator, while Johnson started as the passing game coordinator before becoming the offensive coordinator for his last three seasons in Detroit. They both were hired for head coaching positions last season.

Johnson's Bears won 11 games and clinched the NFC North. Chicago's defense also led the league with 33 takeaways. Glen's Jets won just three games, finishing last in the AFC East. The defense registered zero interceptions.

The two teams went into completely different directions, but the 2026 season presents a fresh slate for both organizations.

Here is everything you need to know about the Bears' Week 4 matchup against the Jets.

No More Sauce

The Jets were a part of one of the biggest moves at last year's trade deadline, sending two-time All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for two first-round picks and receiver Adonai Mitchell.

Gardner was the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2022, finishing with a league-high 20 passes defended that season. The follower year, he broke up 12 passes and registered a forced fumble. According to ESPN, "he is the only cornerback since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970 to be named first-team All-Pro in each of his first two seasons."

Smith Returns

The New York Jets drafted Geno Smith with the 39th overall pick in the second round in 2013. After spending four seasons in New York, Smith bounced around the NFL, spending time with the Giants, Chargers, Seahawks and Raiders.

Smith is now back where his career started. The Raiders traded the quarterback to the Jets this offseason, and Glenn intends for the veteran to start this upcoming season.

The Bears played Smith last season in Week 4, and the veteran quarterback threw three interceptions and was limited to just 117 passing yards.
