Chelsea left-back Landon Emenalo has travelled to Scotland to hold talks with Celtic over a potential loan move, according to Sky Sports.

The Blues will be hoping that their highly-rated Cobham Academy starlet can secure regular first-team football away from Stamford Bridge.

The 18-year-old Chelsea star was in Glasgow on Wednesday to meet Celtic representatives and see the facilities at Celtic Park and the Lennoxtown training ground.

The Scottish champions are considering Emenalo as one of several options to provide competition and cover for Kieran Tierney.

For Chelsea, the move could be an important next step in Emenalo’s development.

The Blues have invested heavily in strengthening their options at left-back this summer, meaning opportunities for the teenager at Stamford Bridge could be limited.

Chelsea completed deals for Pep Chavarria and Valentin Barco during the summer window, further fortifying the position.

The West Londoners have considerable depth on the left side of defence.

Jorrel Hato can also operate at left-back, despite playing centrally, while Chelsea have several other defensive options within their squad and academy set-up.

That makes a temporary switch to Scotland an attractive proposition for Emenalo, provided Celtic can offer him the minutes he needs.

Celtic are looking for another left-back to share the workload with Tierney.

A loan is understood to be Celtic’s preferred route for Emenalo, although the Scottish champions have not completely ruled out making a permanent signing in the position.

Chelsea have several players they need to get off their books permanently and send on loan before the close of the window, as they currently have a bloated squad.

Chelsea must decide what to do with David Datro Fofana, Caleb Wiley, Gaga Slonina, Marc Guiu, Tosin Adarabioyo, Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile.

Enzo Fernandez, Malo Gusto and Pedro Neto have been linked with moves away.

It remains unclear who Alonso will keep between Emanuel Emegha, Nicolas Jackson, and Liam Delap.

Others like Dastan Satpaev, Dario Essugo, Deivid Washington, Omari Kellyman, Aaron Anselmino, Mamadou Sarr, and Kendry Paez could use loan moves away.
