Who is Chelsea’s new USA wonderkid Benji Flowers?
The Athletic’s Tom Bogert broke the news of Chelsea’s future signing of Benji Flowers on Thursday morning.
Flowers has reportedly signed a “big homegrown deal” with FC Dallas and a pre-agreed contract with Chelsea.
The left winger will join the Blues in the summer of 2029 when he turns 18, likely on a long-term deal.
Chelsea have agreed to pay FC Dallas an initial $3 million and up to $7 million in add-ons, in a “historic deal” for a 15-year-old.
They overcame competition from several European and Mexican teams for Flowers’ signature, as he is a well-known prospect.
Flowers has scored two goals in three appearances for the United States’ under-15 team, including one against England.
The youngster, who has already travelled to England to hold talks, will be looking to follow in Christian Pulisic’s footsteps.
The USMNT captain played 146 games for Chelsea in all competitions, contributing 26 goals and 21 assists.
