LAWRENCE — Kansas baseball is in search of some momentum this week, as it’s now dealing with a four-game losing streak.
The Jayhawks lost a midweek road game against Creighton, then were swept at home in a three-game series against West Virginia over the weekend. KU (37-15, 20-7 in Big 12) dropped to No. 17 in the top 25 of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, while WVU rose to No. 11. Kansas still holds a one-game lead in the Big 12 Conference standings over West Virginia, but a Big 12 regular season title doesn’t seem as assured as it was at this point a week ago.
So, as of Tuesday evening, what are the latest NCAA tournament projections for the Jayhawks? Are they still in position to host an NCAA regional this year? How much do they need positive results this week, as the regular season comes to a close with a three-game series Thursday through Saturday at BYU, in order to do so?

Here’s a look at a few projections for where KU stands in the field of 64:
Kansas hosts a four-team regional with this projection. KU, the No. 1 seed here, would bring in No. 2 seed Arkansas, No. 3 seed Western Carolina and No. 4 seed St. Joseph’s. The margin for error, though, for the Jayhawks to hold onto hosting, has tightened.
Kansas also hosts this four-team regional with this projection. KU, a No. 1 seed, would welcome No. 2 seed Nebraska, No. 3 seed Missouri State and No. 4 seed SIU Edwardsville. Whether KU hosts or not, it is set to compete in a second-straight NCAA tournament.
This projection sees Kansas as a No. 2 seed in a regional, and not the host. It would instead play in a regional hosted by No. 1 seed Oregon State, which also includes No. 3 seed Gonzaga and No. 4 seed Indiana State. It’d be a significant opportunity for the Jayhawks to be back in the NCAA tournament, but given the way the season had been going not how it appeared things would end up.
