Liam McNeeley of the Charlotte Hornets was named to the 2026 NBA Summer League Second Team Tuesday afternoon. McNeeley, a UConn alum, joined three other sophomores: Cedric Coward (Memphis Grizzlies), Egor Demin (Brooklyn Nets) and Khaman Maluach (Phoenix Suns). Zyon Pullin, a third-year player with the Minnesota Timberwolves, rounded out the team.
In three summer league matchups for Charlotte, McNeeley made a case for increased playing time, averaging 21.7 points, five rebounds, 3.3 assists and one block in 26.7 minutes. McNeeley shot over 50% from beyond the arc, including a game where he went 7-for-8 from downtown, scoring 28 points.
Making just 31 appearances a season ago, the fewest of four Hornets rookies last season (Kon Knueppel, Sion James and Ryan Kalkbrenner), McNeeley will be eager to prove himself worthy of a spot in Charlotte's rotation to begin the 2026-27 season.
