Charlie Woods is paired with the defending tournament champion, and potentially his future Florida State teammate, for Wednesday's first round of the prestigious Junior Invitational at Sage Valley.

Woods, a junior at the Benjamin School and son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, is in the field this week for the 15th Junior Invitational at Sage Valley from March 11-14 in Graniteville, South Carolina.

He'll open first round play on Wednesday at 1:06 p.m. in a pairing with Miles Russell, the defending tournament champion and current No. 1 player in the AJGA Rolex Rankings, as well as Italy's Giovanni Binaghi.

Hosted at Sage Valley Golf Club, which is less than 20 miles from Augusta National Golf Club, the Junior Invitational aims to be the junior equivalent of the Masters Tournament with prestigious fields and traditions. Tournament winners are awarded a gold jacket.

The Junior Invitational has established an accomplished list of champions in less than two decades of competition. Scottie Scheffler, the world's current world No. 1 golfer, won the event in 2014.

Other notable champions include reigning Arnold Palmer Invitational champion Akshay Bhatia (2018) as well as Joaquin Niemann (2017) and Austin Eckroat (2016).
