Charlie Wi, Stewart Cink lead US Senior Open; Round 2 tee times

Charlie Wi is a glutton for punishment, but the 54-year-old South Korean is also co-leading the 46th U.S. Senior Open at Scioto Country Club. So there is that.

Wi finished his July 2 opening round 3-under 67 at mid-afternoon, the hottest part of the day. What did he do next? Head for air conditioning? Take an ice bath? No, Wi, the leader in the clubhouse when he finished – Stewart Cink ended up tying him when play ended – conducted his post-round media interviews and immediately went to the practice range to work on his game. In 96-degree heat.

"It was a hot day. I just made sure that I stayed in the ballgame, meaning like mentally, because you could easily lose it out there," said Wi, who was born in Seoul but grew up in Los Angeles. "On the Champions Tour, we don't really play in heat like this. ... Luckily, I was playing well, so I was able to stay focused the whole way around."
