There's nothing that can be done at this point to make up for the blown call by the referees at the end of the Pistons-Knicks Game 4 in Detroit over the weekend, but there should be fallout for the officials who let it happen.
That's the view of Hall oF Famer and popular analyst Charles Barkley, as he noted on "Inside the NBA" on TNT on Monday night.
On the play in question, with the score 94-93, Knicks ahead in the final seconds, Tim Hardaway Jr. collected a rebound on a Cade Cunningham miss that would have given the Pistons a lead and attempted a 3-pointer from the left corner as time wound out.
As he shot, Knicks guard Josh Hart came at him to contest, turning his body in an attempt to limit contact. But Hart clearly made contact with Hardaway and bumped him off his shot, which missed badly.

No call was made, and the Pistons lost, putting the series at 3-1 in favor of the Knicks.
While it can be said that it was an honest mistake from the refs, Barkley said the league should not leave it there.
"They blew the call, plain and simple," Barkley said, bluntly. "And I heard other idiots and crews on television say, ‘They missed other calls throughout the game.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, they did,’ but they missed one that could have been like, change the entire series.
"One play is a huge deal. But hey, officials are human. But a text I got from an NBA official said, ‘They can’t miss that call, the official was in the wrong place.’ … That was bad. Something's going to—something’s gotta happen. They do that stuff behind closed doors. But you cannot miss that call, plain and simple."
There has yet to be reporting about consequences for the crew that cost the Pistons that game. But in a pool report, crew chief David Guthrie did admit the error.
Said Guthrie: “During live play, it was judged that Josh Hart made a legal defensive play. After postgame review, we observed that Hart makes body contact that is more than marginal to Hardaway Jr., and a foul should have been called.”
