Over the next few weeks ahead of training camp, I will continue to break down the depth chart for each Chargers position.

Quarterback

Running back

Wide receiver

Next, I project what the tight end room will look like heading into the 2026 season.

Oronde Gadsden II

Drafted in the fifth round last year, Gadsden had a promising rookie campaign, posting 49 catches for 664 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games. Prolific as a pass-catcher, he showed downfield playmaking and yards-after-catch ability. The Chargers have high hopes for Gadsden in Year 2 in Mike McDaniel's offense.

Charlie Kolar

The Chargers bolstered their run game by signing Kolar in free agency. He excelled as one of the NFL’s top blocking tight ends with the Ravens. Kolar brings reliability in-line and as a move tight end, while offering untapped receiving upside. He should thrive as a workhorse blocker and complement the passing game.

David Njoku

Signed to a one-year deal, Njoku brings a proven veteran with pass-catching prowess to Los Angeles. His resume includes a Pro Bowl selection and career totals of 384 receptions for 4,062 yards and 34 touchdowns. A former first-round pick, Njoku gives quarterback Justin Herbert another reliable target.
