The Chargers will feature offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel and assistant general manager Chad Alexander in the NFL's new and improved accelerator program.

The 34-person group includes several notable coaches and general manager candidates. McDaniel, who served as the Dolphins' head coach from 2022 to 2025, will be the only coach participating with that level of experience.

The program, which took a pause in 2025, takes place at the NFL owners meetings Monday and Tuesday in Orlando, Florida. The league released a statement to all 32 teams regarding the program in March.

"The May accelerator is intended to focus on advancing talent from underrepresented groups," the NFL wrote, "while remaining open to qualified senior-level candidates of all backgrounds."

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler revealed that 18 front-office executives were selected to participate in this year's program. The list included five assistant GMs who were asked to interview for the Vikings' general manager vacancy. Alexander was one of the five.

"Eighteen executives are slated to participate, including five assistant general managers requested to interview for the Minnesota Vikings' vacant general manager job: Terrance Gray (Buffalo Bills), Nolan Teasley (Seattle Seahawks), John McKay (Los Angeles Rams), R.J. Gillen (San Francisco 49ers) and Chad Alexander (Chargers). Alexander has declined his interview with Minnesota to focus on the Chargers' 2026 season," Fowler wrote.
