#3 max. A TE with 1000 yards that can block ain't going #5 or#6.

Washington, Mayer and Musgrave all are more dynamic players than McBride. Kincaid a better receiver by far. You can’t evaluate college TEs based mostly on production. Many systems don’t use them as weapons and QBs can be really bad.

TE is tough because it’s value is based upon the scheme. This draft is a little more interesting as the number of two way TE talent is abnormal. More inline guys who have receiving upside. I would argue that McBride would probably go 3rd round this draft as I think there will be a run on WRs late first and early to mid second.

Also add in the NFL is a copy cat league. Coaches can see the mismatches good TEs can create. You add that factor in and TEs are much more valuable then they were.

I'm not evaluating him only on production. McBride was a very good two way college TE with many of the physical tools and attributes the NFL looks for PLUS the production.

I believe in this class many would have him above Washington and Kincaid.

Granted it would be a close run thing and much would depend on what a team is looking for. Washington as a bigger, better blocker. Kincaid is a better receiver. But if looking for both McBride would be the best bet after Mayer.

Who knows but I think McBride is going to be a good player for us in an improved offense.

And next year Brock Bowers comes out and he's better than any TE available. He's significantly better than his teammate Washington.

McBride showed some good play. I'm higher on him than Ertz at this point.

It was rumored yesterday on PHNX that the Lions were interested in moving from 6 to 3 in the draft to grab one of the defensive studs. Would MO make that trade if the Lions are willing to give up 6 & 18 to move up to 3?

Not if it would cost us Will Anderson Jr. Last time we did something like this we lost a HOF pass rusher to BAL.

Eh..that trade was way worse.

I was listening to Kiper and McShay and they both believe this draft has less true 1st round talents than past drafts. They both agreed that there is only 14ish players with 1st round grades.

Carter is good but counting on him to be an Aaron Donald, and that’s what he’d have to be to have the impact of an edge rusher, is asking a lot.

When you’re drafting in the top 3, premier players at premier positions need to be the priority. DT just isn’t that position.
That’s why guys like Warren Sapp and Donald weren’t top 5 picks.
Quennan Williams went 3 and he’s been good but he’s not the impact player Bosa has been.

Very unique situation but based on what I have seen/read about Monti/Gannon - I trust they will know who to pick (Anderson vs Carter).

The Eagles traded up to get Jordan Davis last year - same school/same position/similar production as Carter.

Again - confident that Gannon will know if Carter is right for his defense.

All true, but will Anderson be there at 3? I don’t think so. Hearing rumors that Lions want to move from 6 to 3 to grab either Anderson or Carter. If Anderson is gone, we might just make that trade. Lions willing to give up their 6th pick & two 2’s to move up 3 spots. Cardinals may be able to get #6 & #18 (instead of the two 2’s). If Anderson is gone, I think MO may listen to that trade.

I would consider trading down to 7 or 9 if the opportunity arose over taking Carter at 4 (assuming Anderson is off the board and the trade package is adequate). Ridiculous or no?
