BOSTON — If Sunday afternoon was a playoff preview for the Boston Celtics, then there was a lot for them to like. The C's defeated the Toronto Raptors 115-101 at TD Garden and since the Raps are hovering around the seventh and eighth spots in the Eastern Conference standings, they could face the second-seeded Celtics in the first round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs.
Boston wouldn't mind that matchup, as it swept the season series with Toronto 4-0. In fact, its swept the season series three times in the last four years. The most recent sweep was made possible by a big outing from the Celtics' starters. Star forward Jayson Tatum finished with 26 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, star guard Jaylen Brown posted a game-high 26 points, and center Neemias Queta added 18 points on 90% shooting from the field. As for the Raptors, all five of their starters scored in double figures, but nobody reached 20 points.
Although Celtics center Nikola Vucevic didn't dazzle with the starters, he came off the bench and provided 4 points and 4 rebounds in 13 minutes in his first game back since March 6 when he fractured his right ring finger. Sunday marked his first full game ever alongside Tatum.
Following their fifth win in a row against the Raptors, the Celtics are 53-25 overall with just four games remaining in the regular season. Up next for the C's will be another meeting with a potential playoff opponent: the Charlotte Hornets.
The Celtics host the 42-36 Hornets, who are currently in ninth place in the East, on Tuesday night in what will be Boston's second straight primetime game.
