There is a lot of buzz surrounding the Celtics right now regarding what they will do with Jaylen Brown this offseason. However, Boston is still making roster changes despite ongoing trade discussions about Brown. On Saturday, it made a notable move.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the Celtics and Ron Harper Jr. plan to sign a three-year, $9 million deal to keep him in Boston. Charania also noted that the Celtics will decline Harper's $2.6 million team option this offseason to facilitate a long-term agreement between the two sides.

Harper went undrafted in 2022 and has played for the Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons and now the Celtics. The 26-year-old, 6-foot-5 wing played 29 games for the Celtics last season, averaging 4.2 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.
The Celtics needed more depth, and Harper brings exactly that to the table. Harper likely won't ever get heavy minutes in meaningful games, but he can come in off the bench as a spark in the regular season.
Harper is the son of NBA legend Ron Harper Sr., who played 15 seasons in the league and is the older brother of Spurs point guard Dylan Harper.
