The Boston Celtics find themselves in a precarious position after a 108-105 overtime loss to the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Despite holding a 20-point lead in the third quarter, the Celtics' strategy unraveled as they attempted an NBA playoff-record 60 three-pointers, missing 45 of them. This heavy reliance on perimeter shooting, coupled with late-game defensive lapses, allowed the Knicks to mount a comeback, with Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby each contributing 29 points.

As the series progresses, the Celtics face a critical juncture. A loss in Game 2 would not only put them in a 0-2 deficit but also shift the series to Madison Square Garden, where the Knicks have been formidable.

Head coach Joe Mazzulla, however, remains steadfast in his approach. When questioned about potential adjustments for Game 2, Mazzulla stated:

"When you lose, it’s very easy to—for lack of a better term—create spiders and come up with 10, 12 things that you need to do better. But the hardest thing to do is the simplest thing to do."

He emphasized the quality of shot opportunities, asserting that the team's process was sound, despite the poor shooting performance.

NEW: The Celtics won't make drastic changes ahead of Game 2.

Some Celtics fans were not thrilled that the team does not plan on making major changes in Game 2.

"Sweet, so we can expect Boston to jack up 60 more 3's tonight," one said. "That should work out great."

"And BS like this coming from your head coach is why the Celtics may lose this thing," said another. "He is an Arrogant know it all who cost the Celtics that game the other night. keep doing it and they will lose this series."

"debating if i even wanna watch at this point," one added.

"Mazzulla gonna have em take 60 threes again. Lmao," stated another.

The Celtics must find a balance between their offensive strategy and adaptability to the Knicks' defensive schemes to avoid further setbacks in their playoff campaign, as they hope to keep their consecutive title hopes alive.

As for the Knicks, consecutive victories at TD Garden will put them in a comfortable spot to advance to their first Conference Finals since 2000.
