Celtic win fourth straight title after Aberdeen defeat Rangers
Celtic have officially won their 55th Scottish Premiership title and fourth in succession following Rangers' loss to Aberdeen on Sunday.
Confirmation comes after their bitter rivals were downed 2-1 at Pittodrie by goals from Leighton Clarkson and Pape Guèye - with Rangers being reduced to 10 men in the first half when Ross McCausland received two yellow cards.
Brendan Rodgers' side thumped Kilmarnock 5-1 on Saturday to move 16 points clear at the top of the table, and with Rangers losing at Pittodrie, they can no longer be caught mathematically with only 15 points left to play for in the final five games.
Celtic have now won 13 of the last 14 Scottish Premiership titles and this victory makes it four on the bounce.
They’ve done so by winning 26 of their 33 games so far, drawing three and losing four.
Rangers, on the other hand, have now succumbed to their eighth league defeat of the campaign, and 20 wins haven't been enough to mount any form of legitimate challenge to their rivals, who have won the title in a procession rather than a race.
