Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was spotted at training camp catching balls with a mesh net over his head for a reason that team owner Jerry Jones might not like.

Lamb had a notable mistake in an afternoon November 2024 game against the rival Philadelphia Eagles at home, where a wide-open Lamb couldn’t catch a three-yard pass in the end zone because of sunlight.

The 27-year-old is preparing himself to avoid that situation again, sporting a mesh net over his face for catching drills because team owner Jones refuses to fix the issue.

CeeDee Lamb playfully blamed Jerry Jones for his new training method

Lamb’s mesh net-covered face went viral quickly, but the receiver explained that he had to do so because Jones refused to fix the sunlight problem.

“I gotta practice catching without seeing the ball. My owner refuses to fix the issue with the sunlight coming into the stadium, so I gotta adapt.”

Outside of the few instances where the sunlight has disrupted Lamb, he’s historically been better at home games in the AT&T Stadium.

In 47 home games over his career, Lamb has 278 receptions, 3,898 yards, 24 TDs, while covering about 82.9 yards per game. He has more receptions away from home with 292, but has clocked a total of 3,514 yards and 17 TDs for about 74.8 yards per game.

He’s a better player at home, despite the sunlight being an issue for him.

Jerry Jones publicly refused to even consider CeeDee Lamb’s idea

After Lamb raised this issue in 2024, Jones bluntly refused to even consider the idea of installing curtains to limit the sun’s impact.

“We do know where the damn sun’s going to be at our own stadium. Well, let’s just tear the damn stadium down and build another one? You kidding me?”

“Everybody’s got the same thing. Every team that comes in here has the same issues. They know where the sun’s going to be. Every team has the same thing.”

Lamb’s comments during the 2026 training camp are clear shade to the owner, as he knows Jones won’t do anything about it, but he had to bring it up nonetheless.

We’ll have to wait for the season to start to see if Lamb’s strategy will actually lead to a better individual season and more team success for the Cowboys.
