RUSTON — The postseason honors keep rolling in for Kade Luker.

The rising senior from Cedar Creek School and LSU baseball commit took home Gatorade and All-Northeast Louisiana Player of the Year honors for his efforts this spring and was also the All-NELA Pitcher of the Year. Luker is now the first Cedar Creek and Lincoln Parish player to be named Farm Bureau Insurance/LSWA Mr. Baseball.

Luker, a 6-foot-1 left-handed pitcher and first baseman, went 10-1 on the mound this past season with a 1.04 ERA and 135 strikeouts in 74 innings. He batted .531 with five home runs, 36 RBIs, 12 doubles, seven triples and 28 stolen bases.

Cedar Creek shined on the diamond in 2026 with a 27-7 record, the No. 3 seed in LHSAA Division III select and its first semifinals appearance since 2014. The Cougars' season ended in the semifinals after a 4-1 loss to Covenant Christian.

"At the end of the season, I felt confident in what we accomplished," Luker said regarding this past spring. "Obviously, we fell short (of the finals), but I thought it was a good season overall."

This has marked back-to-back seasons a Monroe-area athlete has earned Mr. Baseball honors. Sterlington's Miller Sheets, a Baylor signee, earned the honors in 2025 after leading his team to the D-III nonselect championship.
