Auburn's Cam Coleman had a solid freshman campaign by reeling in 37 catches for 598 yards and eight touchdowns. However, a majority of those numbers were posted over the final three games of the season.
Coleman recorded 22 catches for 306 yards and six touchdowns over Auburn's final three games, logging two 100-yard performances in that stretch. Before that, Coleman caught no more than four passes in a game with just two touchdowns and zero 100-yard games.
Coleman's potential has just scratched the surface, which is why CBS Sports believes that he will break out and become a household name in 2025. Chris Hummer of CBS Sports added Coleman to his list of "breakout players to watch" for the 2025 season, joining a list of nine other players with half hailing from the SEC.
Hummer praises Coleman's ability to take the top off the defensive coverage and to win 50-50 balls due to his strength and size. However, Auburn's transfer portal investment may be the ultimate factor in his success, Hummer says.
Coleman will be complemented this season by fellow returning sophomore Malcolm Simmons, as well as transfer portal additions Eric Singleton and Horatio Fields, in the wide receiver room. Auburn will look to utilize its passing game more this season after finishing No. 6 in the SEC in passing (263.92 YPG) and No. 5 in passing touchdowns (27) in 2024.

Auburn made a huge investment into its offensive line and quarterback out of the transfer portal, hoping to upgrade from an offensive line that ranked 84th in pressure rate allowed and a quarterback (Payton Thorne) who ranked 53rd in QBR. Auburn's quarterback replacement, Jackson Arnold, isn't necessarily a sure thing. But he's a ceiling raiser.
