Predicting what franchises will do in the NFL draft is always a difficult task.

Putting together a full, seven-round NFL mock draft makes it an even more daunting task. But, it's fun to see the exercise get played out.

CBS' Josh Edwards took on that tall task, compiling a full, seven-round NFL mock draft. Who all does Edwards project the Detroit Lions to draft?

Let's take a look:

CBS' 7-round NFL mock draft for the Detroit Lions

  • Round 1, pick 17: Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia
  • Round 2, pick 50: Gabe Jacas, EDGE, Illinois
  • Round 4, pick 118: Carson Beck, QB, Miami (Fla.)
  • Round 4, pick 128: Jake Slaughter, IOL, Florida
  • Round 5, pick 157: TJ Hall, CB, Iowa
  • Round 5, pick 181: Nate Boerkircher, TE, Texas A&M
  • Round 6, pick 205: Lewis Bond, WR, Boston College
  • Round 6, pick 213: Jimmy Rolder, LB, Michigan
  • Round 7, pick 222: Drew Stevens, K, Iowa

I like the first two picks here a lot. The Lions get long-term offensive tackle help in Monroe Freeling and find an answer at EDGE to pair with Aidan Hutchinson.

The third selection is a head-scratcher, though. With Detroit in win-now mode, the Lions simply can't afford to select a backup quarterback with their third pick in this draft. The rest of Edwards' mock is interesting. Lions fans would be happy to see some secondary help and maybe Nate Boerkircher can be an insurance plan at tight end.
