Predictions for Auburn football's 2026 season are beginning to surface with just over two months remaining until kickoff.
Brad Crawford of CBS Sports recently shared his prediction for Auburn's upcoming season and expects the Tigers to earn a Gasparilla Bowl bid in the first year of the Alex Golesh era with a 7-5 record.
The Auburn Tigers will get off to a hot start, according to Crawford's forecast. The college football expert sees Auburn winning its first five games over Baylor, Southern Miss, Florida, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee on the road before stumbling for the first time at Georgia on Oct. 17.
From there, Crawford projects Auburn to lose to LSU at home before hopping back on track against Arkansas at home to kick off its November slate of games, and expects Auburn to close out the home schedule on Nov. 21 with a win over Samford. The remaining three losses Crawford projects Auburn to take are all on the road, at Ole Miss, at Mississippi State, and at Alabama.
The projected 7-5 record would be a great baseline for Golesh in his first season, and would ensure that Auburn snaps its streak of seven-loss seasons at four.
While a bowl bid and a winning season would be a beautiful sight for Auburn fans, Crawford's prediction of Auburn losing to rivals Georgia and Alabama can be viewed as disappointing. Auburn has lost six straight games to the Alabama Crimson Tide, last winning in 2019.
The losing streak is even longer with Georgia, with Auburn's last win over the Bulldogs coming in 2017 at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The Bulldogs got revenge on the Tigers later that season at the SEC Championship Game, and have rattled off eight more wins in the series since.
According to Crawford's predictions, Auburn will finish with a better record than fellow programs with first-year head coaches, Arkansas, Florida, and Kentucky, as well as Vanderbilt, Missouri, and Mississippi State.

"The Tigers aren't devoid of talent, but expectations should be tempered given the roster turnover, coaching transition and the weekly grind of the SEC. A seven-win campaign would likely mean Auburn held serve against the teams it should beat and won a game or two against a couple of more established opponents. More importantly, it would provide tangible evidence that Alex Golesh's culture and offensive philosophy are taking hold" writes Brad Crawford.
