Gavin Ferretti and Charbel Moubarak contributed to Cathedral Prep’s historical victory during last weekend’s PIAA Class 2A boys team tennis tournament.
Before then, no program from District 10 achieved such a state title.
Ferretti and Moubarak returned to Hershey Racquet Club for this weekend's state 2A doubles tournament.
The duo departed it with their second gold medals for as many weekends.
Ferretti, in his last match for the Ramblers, and Moubarak defeated South Park seniors Jonah Jasek and Steven Duing 7-6 (9-7), 6-3 in their May 23 championship match.
Ferretti said he and Moubarak rallied from a break down and saved five set points before their tense tiebreaker victory vs. their WPIAL opponents.
“This is awesome,” Ferretti said. “I’m so happy to get this win, especially for Charbel.
"We knew (the final) was going to be tough because we were going against a good team, but we were able to communicate well and get it done.”

It was the second such state title for Ferretti, who paired with Prep graduate James Casella for first place in the PIAA’s 2024 2A tournament. He plans to resume his tennis career at John Carroll University, a suburban Cleveland school.
Ferretti and Moubarak were the Ramblers’ seventh duo who won a state doubles tournament, and the district’s eighth overall. McDowell’s Derek Taylor and Keith Whittingham were the PIAA’s Class 3A victors for 2005.
“I’m grateful for having a teammate like Gavin last week and this week,” Moubarak said. “This is whole thing is unforgettable."
