Quarterback storylines always dominate the NFL offseason, and the carousel may spin again for Carson Wentz. Who would have thought? The former Philadelphia Eagles starter and second-overall pick has spent the last few seasons searching for stability. Wentz has been bouncing from roster to roster while trying to rediscover the form that once made him an MVP candidate. Since being traded out of Philadelphia, he has seen five locker rooms in five NFL seasons.

Now, another potential opportunity may be forming, one that seemingly has come out of nowhere. It includes a familiar face, his former offensive coordinator, Frank Reich. As you know, Reich is now the New York Jets' offensive coordinator.

Following Frank Reich's addition, the Jets are reportedly showing interest in Carson Wentz.

According to reporting from SNY's Connor Hughes, the New York Jets have shown interest in Wentz as they sort through their quarterback options ahead of the 2026 season. The Jets are evaluating several free-agent possibilities. The idea of bringing in a veteran with starting experience appears to be part of that discussion.

A possible reunion with Frank Reich is interesting. He's a coach who knows Wentz better than almost anyone in the league. Reich served as Wentz's OC while both were with the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

That partnership produced the best stretch of Wentz's career, one highlighted by his near-MVP campaign in 2017 before a late-season injury ended his year. Their offensive chemistry was obvious, and Reich's system appeared to bring out the quarterback's strengths.

The two reunited again in 2021 when Wentz was traded to the Indianapolis Colts while Reich was the team's head coach. Statistically, Wentz delivered a solid season. He threw for 3,563 yards with 27 touchdowns against just seven interceptions. He posted a 94.6 passer rating, but the campaign collapsed. Their second run together was over after only 17 games.

Since then, Wentz's career has been defined by instability. He has appeared on four different rosters over the last four seasons, never quite regaining the momentum he once had earlier in his career. That's why the possibility of another reunion with Reich is intriguing. For Wentz, it would mean stepping into a system led by a coach who understands how to structure an offense around his strengths.

For the Jets, it could represent a relatively low-risk gamble on a veteran quarterback who still possesses arm talent and starting experience. Whether it happens or not remains to be seen, but if Wentz is going to take one more serious swing at reviving his career, doing so alongside Frank Reich might be the most logical place to start.
