USA Today implied it was a near certainty because they won't have the caproom to sign their rookies and other FA's to get their roster set.

I don't know how many more they have to sign to round out their roster but it's unlikely that 2.7 figure accounts for the rookie pool, which isn't set yet I believe, so they're basically over the cap right now.

I suppose. He's not a true #1 WR. He's mostly a possession guy. Would I rather have him than Frank Sanders? Sure. Would I rather have him than DB, or even Johnnie Morton? No.

that's what i'm hoping for. He'd be a solid addition.

1: Muhammed
2: McAddley
3: Gilmore
4: Kasper / Poole

Call me crazy, but I like Nate Poole.

Huh? I guess you never saw how great Morton was with KC...

That's essentially what we need though, someone to make first down grabs.

We don't need to bring in a deep threat, we've got an ass-load of speed between Gilmore, McAddley and Poole.

We've got the speed to go deep, the size to go over the middle, the height to battle in the endzone, we just need a pair of reliable hands (MM).

We could be sitting on junk, or we could be sitting on a gold mine. I'll trust Sully's opinion until we get a chance to see them on the field, after a full camp working with the first team.

Yeah, but my impression was that Morton was largely ignored, and didn't see a lot of balls, rather than being a bad player. I think he's still a significant contributor, and would love to see him in Card red.

He's not a superstar, but he is a solid #1.

1999--15 GS--1253 yds--8 TDs
2000--16 GS--1183 yds--6 TDs
2001--11 GS--585 yds--1 TD
2002--14 GS--823 yds--3 TDs

He's been was injured at thye end of the 2001 season and I think that carried over into the 2002 season, but the guy is a bonefied #1 WR in the NFL.

I think he's head and shoulders over what's out there for us.

Muhammad would be a great pickup. If he can stay healthy he would definately be our #1. He is a stud possession receiver. In a sense he reminds me of Rob Moore. Is he DB, no. But he sure isn't Willie Jackson. I would love to see MM in cardinal red.

What are everyone's thoughts about doing a trade for MM - say a 3rd pick. I would do that

It's not a bad idea at all.

Some would say that you shouldn't trade for a player potentially about to be cut, but given the Cards circumstances, you can't rely on that player coming here, regardless of how much cash we offer.

Trading a third rounder for a legit receiver which we desperately need would be a feather in Graves' cap, IMO.

The problem with Muhsin though, is that he has had trouble with injuries. If not for his injuries, the Panthers wouldn't be talking about cutting hiim.

Trading a third round for an injury-prone receiver is not a good idea. Why not just keep the pick and draft a receiver? The rookie wide out may not make an immediate impact, but could possibly be better down the road.

I think the problem is more trading a young, cheap player for an old, potentially expensive one. I'd give up a 5th, maybe a 6th, not a 3rd. You get 2nd year starters in the 3rd (Johnson, McCown were 3rd rounders.)

I agree.

We will have a real dilemma if we don't get Suggs. We will be forced to use a high round pick on a defensive end... a 2nd or 3rd rounder. I want us to use our 2nd rounder on a receiver (Bryant Johnson, Taylor Jacobs, etc.)

I thinking realistically though - the Rams got Turley for a 2nd pick ..... scaling down that's why I said a 3rd rounder. That is probably what Carolina would want for MM - it is also cheaper than the 1st we gave up for Moore those years back for a very similar receiver. Plus MM is not an old guy - what is he 26? Not bad - especially since he goes over the middle and has good hands. I think a 3rd would do it but if it is anything lower - even better :)

I'm pretty convinced that Sully thinks we have a barn full of quality WR projects already.

I post a lot, what can I say!

I bet, between Section 11 and I, that we beat the other top ten posters combined! :D

Nothing to be proud of, but it shows the extreme boredom of a college student that doesn't go to class much!

I would take Mushin but wait until he's cut.On June 1 we sign Mushin and Robinson.Out of the 2,one should be able to stay healthy and ,if lucky, both. That way our wr corp would look like this:Muhammad,Robinson starters,Mcaadley,Gilmore are the 3-4 receivers and Kasper is #5 and can concentrate mainly on returning kickoffs. Now all we need is Leftwich to throw it to them.

Yeah, but Turley was arguably in the Top 5 at his position. Mushin might be in the top 15.

That dream is too good to be true...

I would be happy if we got just one of those WR's.

But to land both I would seriously "soil" myself....
